Glass Plate Negatives
Arthur I. Emerson, Fred W. Park, and Willis B. Parkhurst recorded spectacularly detailed images in and around Chelmsford from about 1888 to 1913 on 8x10, 5x8, 5x7, and 4x5 inch glass negatives. High resolution masters are available.

This is what can be done with an 8x5 inch glass negative. Negative 2009.9.14001 was scanned at extremely high resolution by the Historical Society, colorized by Color Reflections, Inc., of Philadelphia, PA, and transfered to a wall at the TD Bank at Drum Hill as seen below.
